Presentation Opportunities

1688��'s Annual Research Conference

CURCA hosts 1688��’s Annual Research Conference every year. This one-day event brings 1688�� students from all campuses together to showcase their research and creative activities. The conference is open to all 1688�� undergraduate and graduate students from every discipline. Each year, between 100-200 students present their work to their peers and colleagues in panel presentations, performance pieces, and poster sessions. The application deadline is usually in mid-February and the conference is held in late March.

This list includes external conferences open to undergraduate students, organized by field. Other opportunities not listed below may exist in your major, so make sure to check with your professor or mentor for additional resources.

General
The Butler URC has promoted excellence and encouraged undergraduate students to showcase their research efforts.

The STR Program was developed as an expanded and enhanced program to replace Posters on the Hill and REU Symposium while drawing on their successes. This program will broaden participation allowing for engagement from students at varied stages of the undergraduate research process. Participants will learn valuable skills in communicating the impact of their undergraduate research, scholarship, and creative inquiry experience to a variety of audience members and stakeholders.

Georgia Undergraduate Research Conference (GURC)

The Georgia Undergraduate Research Conference is held every fall at a university belonging to the Georgia Undergraduate Research Collective. It includes all fields of scholarship, and students can present either posters or oral presentations.

At the National Conference for McNair Scholars and Undergraduate Research, the attendees gain a venue for networking, learning about graduate school programs, hearing from distinguished guests and panelists, and enjoying the sense of community that McNair programs around the country share.

The National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) is dedicated to promoting undergraduate research, scholarship, and creative activity in all fields of study by sponsoring an annual conference for students. Unlike meetings of academic professional organizations, this gathering of student scholars welcomes presenters from all institutions of higher learning and all disciplines.

Founded in 2007 with the mission of building an interdisciplinary research community among undergraduates.

The Undergraduate Research Symposium provides undergraduates the opportunity to present the results of their research and creative projects in a public forum.

Texas Tech University Undergraduate Research Conference (URC) is one of the Nation's largest interdisciplinary undergraduate research conferences. The URC is a wonderful celebration of the rich Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities landscape at Texas Tech, and it regularly features several presenters from other colleges and universities from across the region.

The Undergraduate Research Conference is an annual event where students present work related to course research, creative work in the visual and performing arts, study abroad trips, community service, and much more. The conference benefits the campus community by helping students hone their ability to present information in a public setting, give and receive constructive feedback, and view important work being done by others both in and outside of their fields.

Biology
The Association of Southeastern Biologists holds its annual conference in the spring and offers a friendly atmosphere for undergraduate researchers to present in, either through posters or oral presentations.

Communication
RIT’s School of Communication hosts graduate, undergraduate, and high school students to present their research at the annual Student Research in Communication Conference.

The annual Undergraduate Communication Research Conference is a celebration of undergraduate research in all areas of the communication discipline, bringing together students from colleges and universities from across the upper Midwest. The event offers a unique opportunity for students in all areas of communication to showcase their scholarship, receive constructive feedback, and network with students and faculty from dozens of local and regional institutions.

English and Language
Sigma Tau Delta holds its annual convention every spring. It is a truly wonderful event that allows hundreds of Sigma Tau Deltans from around the globe to gather in one locale, share experiences and ideas, be recognized for their achievements, and participate in the official side of the Society. At the convention, opportunities abound to meet face-to-face with other students, faculty, and respected authors, make new friends, discuss the disciplines of the English language and literature, and enjoy the offerings of the convention's location.

SAMLA holds its annual conference every fall. It is a professional conference, but it includes opportunities for undergraduates to present their research through Undergraduate Research Forum (URF) panels or the annual Friday-night Poster Session. It includes literary and linguistic scholarship in any of the modern languages.

History
The American Historical Association provides leadership for the discipline and promotes the critical role of historical thinking in public life. The Association defends academic freedom, develops professional standards, supports innovative scholarship and teaching, and helps to sustain and enhance the work of historians.

The Southern Historical Association is charged with promoting an “investigative rather than a memorial approach” to Southern history. Today the Association supports history education and history educators at all levels within the South. The SHA represents all historians of the South and all historians in the South. The Association holds an annual meeting, usually in the first or second week of November, and proudly publishes The Journal of Southern History

The Society's membership includes the most innovative researchers and practitioners of all eras of military history. Their work is featured in books, articles, policy papers, and presentations that reach a global audience, but nothing comes close to the Society's annual meeting for sheer exposure to the latest research.

The Western History Association's annual conference is a four-day event scheduled in October. It features over 120 sessions, roundtables, workshops, and professional panels on all aspects of the North American West. Conferences feature all scholars who concentrate some aspect of their research or professional activities on the North American West.

Mathematics
The Southeastern Section of the Mathematical Association of America holds an annual conference in the Spring. It covers the states of Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee, and it includes an Undergraduate Poster Session, Graduate School and Career fair and other events open to undergraduate students.

The vision for the Rose-Hulman Undergraduate Mathematics Conference is to provide a venue to highlight and celebrate the accomplishments and work of undergraduate mathematicians and statisticians. The conference is put on largely by undergraduates for undergraduates. The contributed student talks will cover an array of topics including pure mathematical theory, applied modeling, statistics, and data science.

SUMS at JMU is an annual conference promoting undergraduate research in mathematics, statistics, and their applications. It features contributed undergraduate research talks, invited talks aimed at a general undergraduate math audience, a poster session, and panels about graduate school, undergraduate research, and math careers.

Psychology
The GURP conference offers a great outlet for newly engaged social scientists in the southeastern United States to present their research in a professional setting and provides students an opportunity to develop professional skills, learn about research at regional colleges and universities, and connect with students and faculty who share a research interest.

The Psychology Undergraduate Research Conference was created in 1992 by Dr. Elizabeth Bjork, to create opportunities for undergraduate research assistants to develop their presentation skills and share their research efforts with their peers and colleagues. Students present their research as posters or paper talks during a day-long event. In addition to fostering undergraduate professionalism, PURC has proven to be a meaningful and exciting forum for students from UCLA and other colleges to communicate their research activities with one another.

SEPA holds its annual conference during the Spring semester, in different locations throughout the American southeast. Besides collaborating with faculty to present at the conference, students are able to submit their work to the CEPO/Psi Chi Undergraduate Research Program section of SEPA.

Science
The Georgia Academy of Science holds an annual meeting every spring, aimed at undergraduate and graduate research. Fields include Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Earth & Atmospheric Sciences, Physics, Math, Computer Science, Engineering & Technology, Philosophy & History of Science, Science Education, Anthropology and Psychological Science

High school, undergraduate, and graduate students attend this meeting to present research in oral and poster formats. Sigma Xi members judge the students on their scientific thought, method, and communication skills.

Social Sciences
Interdisciplinary social science association, bringing together professionals and students for collaboration. Affiliates include anthropology, economics, history, international studies, political science, social work, sociology, and women’s/gender studies.
