Tuition FAQs

Can I let other people make payments for me?
Yes, you can add Authorized Users to who can access your Student Account Center. Once authorized, they will be able to view and make payments on your invoice as well as viewing past invoices.

Note: This access is separate from FERPA authorization, and only allows the authorized user to see your invoice. No other student records are available from this setup.

Log in to and select the Student view

Select the four-square icon in the upper left corner

Select "Banner"

Select "Student"

Select “Student Account”

Go to “Student Invoice”

Select "Continue"

You are now in the student account center. In the upper right corner, click on “Authorized Users”

Enter the email addresses of anyone you want to be added to view your Student Account Center and invoice.

You will receive two messages at that email address: one with a user name, and one with a temporary password.

How do I access my Student Invoice?
Log in to and select the Student view

Select the four-square icon in the upper left corner

Select "Banner"

Select "Student"

Select “Student Account”

Go to “Student Invoice”

Select "Continue"

Select "Account Activity"

You will be able to view your charges, estimated financial aid, term balance, and term balance including estimated financial aid.

Select "Make a Payment" to pay online via web check or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover or Diner’s Club).

Web Checks are free

Web Credit Card transactions incur a 2.95%* convenience fee based on the amount of the transaction ($3.00 minimum fee)

*Effective May 5, 2025, this rate will increase to 3%.

How can other people view and pay my invoice for me? (Authorized Users)
Need to add an Authorized User?

Log in to and select "Banner Student"

Under the "Financial Aid/Student Account" section, select "Invoice" and select "Continue"

Select the "Authorized Users" link in the upper right part of the page

Provide the email address for the person to be made an authorized user where provided

New Authorized Users will receive an email with a temporary password.

Note: the password is the text between the brackets [ ] but not including the brackets or spaces.

Already an Authorized User?

If you are already an Authorized User, you can and begin.

How do I know how much to pay if I have financial aid pending?
Log in to and select the Student view

Select the four-square icon in the upper left corner

Select "Banner"

Select "Student"

Select “Student Account”

Go to “Student Invoice”

Select "Continue"

Select "Account Activity"

Select the semester you would like to view (defaults to the latest semester)

“Estimated Financial Aid” will be listed first

The selected semesters activity will be listed next

At the end of the semester's activity, Term Balance will be the amount you owe (Semester Account Activity - Estimated Financial Aid)

How do I setup my Refund Preference?

How do I check or update my Refund Preference?

If you have already completed your initial refund preference selection, you will need to go to the to update or change your preferences. You log in using your 1688�� email address and the password you chose when you selected your preference.

How do I sign up for the Nelnet Student Payment Plan?
Log in to and select the Student view

Select the four-square icon in the upper left corner

Select the "Setup Payment Plan" link and follow the instructions

How do I make a payment with my credit/debit card or digital check?
Log in to and select the Student view

Select the “Make A Payment” button

You may need to add a payment method in the "My Profile" for payment

Note: Accepted types of cards are Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and Diner’s Club. A non-refundable convenience fee of 2.95%* a ($3.00 minimum fee) will be added to your payment by the service provider.

*Web check payments are free of charge.

Why do I have an “Owes Money” hold with a “$0” balance due?
“Owes Money” holds are automatically placed on all student accounts with an outstanding balance.

Access your student invoice to obtain the amount of your outstanding balance

Why do I still have an “Owes Money” hold after I paid my outstanding balance on-line?
Holds are removed daily via an automated process

To have the hold removed immediately, please contact the Bursar’s Office during regular office hours

How do I change my meal plan?
Log in to and select the Student view

Select the four-square icon in the upper left corner

Select "Banner"

Select "Student"

Select “Change Meal Plan Form”

Select the appropriate term and click “Submit Term”

Select your meal plan change preference

Note: Choose wisely – you may only change your plan once per semester

How do I set up FERPA authorization?

Activity Fee

The student activity fee supports various organizations that serve and benefit students, such as the Student Government Association, and Nighthawks Entertainment. The funds also provide for activities and events, which are available to all 1688�� students.

Athletics Fee

The student activity fee supports various organizations that serve and benefit students, such as the Student Government Association, and Nighthawks Entertainment. The funds also provide for activities and events, which are available to all 1688�� students.

Health Services Fee

The health services fee covers basic health care services including evaluation of acute symptoms, many in-house laboratory tests, treatment of minor injuries, prevention and self-help skills education, flu immunizations, and limited over the counter medications, first-aid supplies, and self-care items. Student Health Clinics, which are primarily staffed with Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs), are available to all 1688�� students, regardless of their campus enrollment. Clinics are located on the Dahlonega and Gainesville campuses.

Wellness Fee

The Wellness Fee supports recreation and wellness initiatives, programs, and events across all campuses and supports recreation and wellness facilities.

Transportation & Parking Fee

The transportation & parking fee is used to cover costs associated with the construction of student parking decks, construction and upkeep of surface parking lots, sidewalks, and other access-related expenses across all campuses.

Technology Fee

The technology fee supports technology infrastructure and services related to academic and instructional needs of students. This includes the equipping of access to software, computer labs, network and internet access, and instructional technology.

Online Learning Fee

The online learning fee is assessed to 1688�� students taking solely online courses. Online students have access to the same facilities, programs, and support services as students taking classes on campus.

How do I use my 529/college savings plan to pay my invoice?
529 Plans are special accounts and programs used to pay for your college expenses. Depending on the plan providers options for payments, you will need to follow the payment methods below:

Mailed Payments:

Students who have investment-type college savings plans must submit a payment request directly to the investment company to ensure that payment is received by 1688�� by the payment deadline.
Please ensure you include your full name and student ID# on the checks, and that payments are mailed to the following address:

Electronic Payments:

Select 529 plans (including Georgia's Path2College 529 Plan) now have an Electronic Payment Option. For a small fee, funds can be sent directly to 1688�� within 2-4 business days. If selecting electronic payment method, please include your student's ID number for verification.

If your 529 Plan is through Ascensus bank, you can submit payments via ACH payment option in Flywire.

State-Sponsored Programs:

Students enrolled in a state-sponsored prepaid tuition plan, such as the Florida Prepaid, the Alabama Pact, the South Carolina Tuition Prepaid or another similar plan are required to email the Assistant Bursar, Carla Gibbs with the payment/billing authorization to the university before the payment deadline to ensure that the conditional credits are posted to their bills.

Is there an option for tuition and/or renters insurance?

1688�� has partnered with to provide students with an option for tuition and/or renters insurance to protect the investment you and your family have made in higher education. GradGuard can provide reimbursement for tuition, room, board, and other fees if you’re forced to withdraw due to a covered illness, injury or mental health condition at any time during the covered term.

Note: GradGuard plans are entirely optional. You must sign up before the end of add/drop at the start of each term separately. You may opt in from your Student Invoice on your 1688�� Banner account.
